PERGAMON - Panorama of the ancient metropolis
The Gasometer Pforzheim with its new 360° panorama PERGAMON takes visitors back to the year 129 AD to the ancient Greek city of Pergamon in Asia Minor. With this work, Yadegar Asisi thematizes the Roman period under the Emperor Hadrian, whose visit to the region is documented for that year. Embedded in the terraces of the acropolis on the 300-meter-high castle hill, monumental buildings with temples and a theater blend into the hilly landscape near the west coast in Turkey. The extensive Roman city complex stretches at the foot of the castle hill, and the Mediterranean Sea can be glimpsed on the horizon. Next to the emperor, the parchments can be discovered in various scenes and groupings, embodying the vibrant life in the metropolis some 2000 years ago.
