Among the outstanding exhibits are the original exhibits of the UNESCO World Heritage "Ice Age Art". UNESCO declared six caves in the Swabian Alb and the Ice Age art found there a World Heritage Site in 2017. This is because around 40,000 years ago, people carved very lifelike figures of mammoths, wild horses, cave lions and other animals out of mammoth ivory here. Most of the original finds from the Ice Age caves can be seen at Hohentübingen Palace, including the charming "Vogelherdpferdchen" and the newly discovered fragment of a flute made from griffon vulture bone.
