Only fragments can be seen of the old castle in Helmstadt, a former moated castle. The castle was destroyed in 1694 and a farm was built on the old foundations, of which the main building dates from 1757. Some of the farm buildings erected around 1900 have inscription panels or coats of arms that name the Lords of Berlichingen as builders. In the middle of the courtyard is a draw well reconstructed around 1900 in the Renaissance style. It is the only monument from ancient times and its appearance allows us to draw conclusions About the likely wealth of the castle's furnishings. The two fronts bear the coats of arms of the lords of Dienheim, Venningen, the von Geyern taverns, the lords of Helmstadt, Seckendorff and Neiperg.
