Plays
in the open air are a very special experience in Schwäbisch Hall!
Nestled
in the scenic historic city setting the Grand Steps of St. Michael
have been the stage for professional theatre since 1925. There is
play, dance and song on the 53 steps which are striving heavenwards.
And the picturesque market place turns into the box for theatre
lovers from near and far. First the monumental Gand Steps only served
as the stage for spiritual dramas such as „Jedermann“
(„Everyman“) by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. But the steps do not only
lead up into the sacred world but also down onto the market place
with its secular life. Therefore today, along with the great
classics, the steps turn into the stage for rousing musical theatre.
This location is complemented by the New Globe Theatre on the
Unterwöhrd in Schwäbisch Hall, a multistoryed, rainproof and
heatable open air theatre with many possible ways to use it.
