Pfühlpark
The 15-hectare Pfühlpark is located in the east of Heilbronn along the tram line to Öhringen. It is the oldest park in Heilbronn, including the garden around the moated castle on Lake Trappensee. The origins of the Pfühlpark go back to 1575, when the foundation stone for the Trappenseeschlösschen was laid by Mayor Philipp Orth.
Beschreibung
Sports and recreational facilities
The Pfühlpark is one of the best accepted parks in the city. Richard-Becker-Strasse separates the eastern part with the Pfühlsee from the rest of the park. The core of the western park is formed by two large playgrounds and sunbathing lawns, along which the Pfühlbach runs. With a large children's sand playground for the youngest, a giant slide and a large climbing net for the somewhat older children, as well as table tennis tables for sports enthusiasts, the Pfühlpark offers ideal recreational opportunities for families.
Barbecue
Barbecuing is prohibited in the Pfühlpark.
Renovation
In 1996, the entire park, starting with the Trappensee, was renovated. About 2.5 million euros were invested to reconcile the demands of the population for an attractive park with the requirements of ecology and nature conservation. To improve the water quality of the lakes, huge amounts of silt were dredged, the artificial bank reinforcements were removed, the banks were flattened and new shallow water zones were created. The Pfühlbach stream was renaturalized.
Since the conversion, the main attraction at Pfühlsee has been a 35-meter-wide wooden deck from which the entire lake can be overlooked along with its flora and fauna, and the animals are not disturbed in their retreat zones on the southern shore.
