Schauhaus in the Zeppelin village
The show house is a place of memory that allows visitors to experience the life of the working population in Friedrichshafen at the time when the Zeppelin industry was founded. It is the perfect way to expand the exhibition on the history and technology of the zeppelins in the Zeppelin Museum by highlighting the history not from the perspective of the flight captains and engineers, but from that of the workers.

Description
We welcome all visitors - the house at König-Wilhelm-Platz 12 is part of the Zeppelin Village factory settlement. It was built from 1914 in the direct neighborhood of the factory area of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH. To mark its 100th anniversary, Zeppelin Wohlfahrt GmbH and the Zeppelin Museum opened the show house to visitors to the public as a museum in 2013. The Zeppelin Museum has set up the exhibition and maintains the show house as a temporary home.
Members of the same family lived in the house from 1914 to 2009. As a result, it was subject to few structural changes and the original condition of the building was restored, taking into account the preservation of historical monuments. The original color palette of the apartments could be made recognizable again - just as the architects Paul Bonatz and Friedrich Eugen Scholer had planned the interior design in 1914. Thanks to the reconstruction, the apartments are now largely back to their original state. Furniture from different decades and interactive sound stations bring the stories of three generations back to life. A film about the Zeppelin village and its inhabitants is also shown on the top floor.
Each house had a large garden plot. It was intended as a self-sufficient garden for working-class families. It was even planned to keep small animals. Today, the garden is managed as a historic garden and its value as a self-sufficient garden has been rediscovered. It is not only available as a school garden as part of the City of Friedrichshafen's Green Classroom, but also provides the basis for a gardening club for interested citizens.
