The former farm building underwent a magnificent restoration and refurbishment as a community, festival and cultural barn. It was used for the first time for this purpose from May 16 to 19, 1988, at the International Congress "The Village in Transition - Preservation of Monuments in Rural Areas", organized by the German National Committee for Monument Protection. Even today, numerous festivities of the Merdingen associations as well as the community are held in the Zehntscheuer and the associated Zehnthof.
