The original castle of the Knights of Weißenstein was first mentioned in 1241. In 1384, the Counts of Rechberg came into possession of the castle and built Weißenstein Castle with a castle chapel, a church gallery and a magnificent view of the natural landscape on the banks of the Alb.
The castle has been owned by the Kage family since 1971 and is known worldwide as a stronghold of microphotography.
The castle houses the family business „KAGE Microphotography“ and the unique museum „KAGEs Mikroversum“ which is made accessible to visitor groups by appointment and within special guided tours for individuals by the Kage family. In a unique journey, visitors can enter new visual worlds and experience fantastic microcosms.
