Metzingen
The small Swabian town at the foot of the Swabian Alb with its outlet city has advanced to become the top shopping address in Germany in recent years. International designer fashion brands have settled directly in Metzingen's city center, leaving nothing to be desired. But it is not only fashion that attracts shoppers - the architectural contrasts that characterize Metzingen are also attractive. On one side of Lindenplatz, there is a lot of glass, concrete, steel and cosmopolitan shopping flair; on the other side, there is pure small-town idyll with half-timbering and cobblestones: Just a few minutes' walk away, a completely different world reveals itself to visitors on Kelternplatz.
For on Kelternplatz stands the cradle of a wine-growing tradition that dates back to the 11th century. While the theme of viticulture can be actively experienced with all the senses in the wine museum, a large selection of the grape juice that matures into a "good drop" in the Metzingen vineyards is available for wine lovers in the vinotheque.
