St. Georgen in the Black Forest

Once you arrive in the recreational town of St. Georgen, nature beckons. Excursionists follow the Brigach, the second source river of the Danube, five kilometers uphill. It has its source next to a pretty Black Forest farmhouse. The nature paradise around the sunny mountain town can also be discovered along the St. Georgen heritage trail. Fun should not be neglected in the course of this. 

In summer, the monastery pond invites you to swim, jump on the trampoline or play beach volleyball. You can also go on a museum tour according to your mood: from the German Phonomuseum, the international art space "Grässlin", to the local history museum "Schwarzes Tor", the restored Kobisen Mill to the Technology Museum. St. Georgen also turns out to be an innovative museum city.

In St. Georgen, founded by monks in 1084, the motto was once: pray and work. Today for most visitors it is probably: hiking and biking. Hiking trails, which are about 220 km long, lead past the most beautiful views and natural sites around St. Georgen, such as the Brigach spring. Young and old can playfully discover the town on their own with the town rally through St. Georgen. 

Those who are active a lot can then also relax and enjoy themselves. There are delicacies that you should simply let melt in your mouth: chocolates, chocolate cuckoo clocks and individual gift ideas from the Black Forest gourmet workshop.
The delicious chocolate creations are carefully handcrafted and you can taste it! Have you ever eaten a chocolate record? This treat dates back to the 20th century, when St. Georgen was a stronghold of the phonographic industry and consumer electronics. Numerous record players were manufactured in the mountain town. The Black Forest clock industry was also at home here. Precision mechanics and clock technology thus dominated the workplaces in the area for a long time. 

However, not only the Black Forest cuckoo clock has a long tradition, but also winter sports. When the snow covers the landscape around St. Georgen, you can explore the area on 85 km of cross-country ski trails or 87 km of winter hiking trails or go down the sledding slope.
