Much has been written about Frida Kahlo's art and life, but her personality was so fascinating and multi-faceted that there are still secrets to be told and shown.
This exhibition tells exactly what it promises: Frida Kahlo's secrets. It is the 11th Frida Kahlo exhibition that the Kunstmsueum has presented and curated in Germany and the USA in the last 13 years.
The museum shows photographs and paintings that have rarely or never been seen before in Europe; it also reveals where Frida actually found her final resting place and who her friends really were.
In addition to rarely seen paintings, the exhibition shows over 70 original dresses from Mexico and pieces of jewellery in the style Frida wore, as well as 60 rare, precious hand-woven or hand-embroidered textile pieces from southern Mexico.
With over 100 Frida Kahlo replicas, 250 photographs and 13 videos, the tragic and beautiful life of Frida Kahlo can be experienced and understood as never before.
In the tradition of the museum, all visitors receive on loan and free of charge a catalogue - available in German, English, French, Spanish and Russian - in which Frida reveals in her own words the stories and secrets behind her paintings.
