In 1258 Richard of Cornwall granted Steinbach, as one of few villages, the town status by royal deed. In its 750-year history, the city has experienced prosperity and devastation even witch trials and since the 19th century the influence of a self-confident bourgeoisie.
Up til today the rich history of Steinbach can be traced through many historic buildings.
