Hohenzollern Cycle Route - Stage 1: Weinstadt to Bebenhausen (Tübingen)
Medium
Weinstadt is the perfect starting point for a tour along the Hohenzollern Cycle Route in two respects: on the one hand, some of Germany's best wines can be found here and, on the other, the town is the cradle of the Württemberg kings. The first stage leads over the Neckar and through the Schönbuch Nature Park to Bebenhausen Monastery and Palace. Once converted into a hunting lodge for rulers, the last royal couple lived there after the end of the monarchy. After the Second World War, the monastery was the seat of the state parliament of Württemberg-Hohenzollern, which was not merged into Baden-Württemberg until 1952. The first day on the long-distance cycle route comes to an end in Bebenhausen, a tranquil suburb of the lively university town of Tübingen.
