Hohenzollern Cycle Route - Stage 4: Gammertingen to Sigmaringen
Medium
The next day, it's back to magnificent buildings and magnificent halls. From Gammertingen, the cycle path leads past the devil's gate rock through the valley of the Lauchert to where it flows into the Danube. The river meanders past bright rock faces, small caves and wooded slopes. At the stage destination of Sigmaringen, the Hohenzollern Palace is enthroned, one of the largest town castles in Germany. This is where the princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen had their administration. Between chandeliers and knights' armour, themed tours give an insight into the everyday life and dreams of the people who once lived here. Cyclists should also bring time with them after arriving in Sigmaringen, because the former royal seat is located in the Upper Danube Nature Park, where the mighty river has created a particularly impressive valley with cliffs and forests.
