Description
With the Traufgang Zollernburg-Panorama, the name says it all! From the Zeller Horn, you probably have the best postcard view of the seemingly floating ancestral castle of the Hohenzollerns. Exposed view rocks, the 24-meter-high observation tower on the Raichberg, the adventurous Hangende Stein, indoor beech forests and the distant views from the Traufkante offer pure panoramic hiking.
A highlight among Germany's hiking trails. Whether from the edge of the Trauf down to the distant communities in the valley, from the Zeller Horn to the world-famous Hohenzollern Castle, the majestic landmark of the Zollernalbkreis, numerous exposed rock formations or the 360-degree panoramic view from the Raichberg lookout tower - the award-winning Zollernburg panorama surprises everywhere.
The trail unites a colossal span of the Traufgänge: here the partly dramatic Traufkante with rock spurs, crevices, near-crannies and root-lined paths. There the gentle Alb plateau, characterized by juniper heaths, sheer endless meadows, fields and forest edges. Pure hiking pleasure!
Highlights on the Traufgang Zollernburg-Panorama ridge tour:
- Most beautiful view of Hohenzollern Castle from the Zeller Horn
- Trauf with great views: Kohlwinkelfels, Backofenfels, Hangender Stein
- Nature reserve with juniper heath
- Raichberg tower
- Quiet areas at the Heiligenkopf with following Trauf
- Show coal pile

Directions
From the large parking lot Skilift/Zollernburg-Panorama we first head towards the ski lift, downhill through canyon forest into the flat moor in the Schmiechatal and through the Geifitze nature reserve, towards Stich. From the small hamlet of Stich, the trail gradually climbs along the edge of the mountain. Past the remains of old raised bogs. Over the Heiligenkopf to the Ritterstall and to the Zollernblick. Again and again the curtain of forests opens to impressive views.
On the plateau, the path runs past the Zollersteighof, with a cozy stop to the Zeller Horn. Here you have an overwhelming view of Hohenzollern Castle. It is one of the most beautiful and most visited castles in Europe.
After the natural monument "Hangender Stein" the path leads at the height of the Kohlwinkelfelsen to the resting place "Neues Schafhaus". Around the Bühl, the trail leads through the characteristic juniper heaths - past coal piles and old ore extraction sites. Continue to the Raichberg tower at the Nägelehaus with a stop for refreshments. On clear days, the view from the tower reaches as far as the Feldberg in the Black Forest and into the Alps to the Zugspitze. At the Dagersbrunnen it goes briefly downhill back to the starting point.
Since the restaurants along the Traufgänge are often very busy, we recommend reserving a table in advance.
