River stories and tinkerer legends
Like blue ribbons, wide rivers and idyllic streams meander through the unique landscape of the Swabian Alb with its steep rock faces, gentle hills and spectacular sweeping views. And just as the rivers have carved their courses into the rock over decades and centuries, world-famous personalities have also left their mark on the region. On the 273-kilometre Württemberger valley cycle route, cyclists pass through twelve valleys in six stages. They encounter great river celebrities such as the Danube and the Brenz and inspiring figures and masterminds such as the model railway builder Märklin, the tailor Margarete Steiff or the Lion Man.

Beschreibung
Every valley has its own character
From Crailsheim to Schwäbisch Gmünd, from the Jagst Valley to the Rems Valley, the cycle route passes geological highlights such as the Stone Virgins in the Eselsburg Valley or the bright blue karst spring Blautopf in Blaubeuren. Close by is the Achtal valley, with three caves that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Caves and Ice Age Art of the Swabian Alb. In the Kocher and Brenz valleys, nature enthusiasts discover the origins of the two rivers that give their names to the region, the Kocher and the Brenz, and in the Danube valley the Langenauer Ried stretches out with a beautiful fen and bird sanctuary.
From prehistory to the Nobel Prize winner
However, not only the most picturesque rivers in the region are hidden around the valley cycle route, but also modern museums and impressive places where inventors and thinkers have written history. In the Prehistoric World Museum in Aalen, guests travel back to the Middle Ages, the Märklineum in Göppingen makes every model railway fan stop and marvel, and the Steiff Adventure Museum in Giengen an der Brenz has the world's largest petting zoo with Margarete Steiff's legendary stuffed animals. Last but not least, there is the chance to take a selfie with one of the world's most important scientists - Albert Einstein. His monument in Ulm presents itself with its tongue stuck out. Curious cyclists can find out which personalities and river panoramas await them in the details of the stages.
